Genital warts is a very contagious disease and once a condition of this kind is being formed, taking the right treatment as soon as possible is very important. All conditions are easier to cure when the right treatment is being administrated very quickly and genital warts make no exception. Well, to be able to receive a diagnosis of the disease as soon as it has been formed, individuals need to be very careful about the signs and symptoms that can indicate something is wrong.

Genital warts is a sexually transmitted disease, being highly contagious. Genital warts can be transmitted very easily with skin contact, during oral, genital and anal sex. Genital warts can be formed both inside and outside of the vagina, around the anus and the uterus. Although genital warts are mostly diagnosed at women, men can also form such a condition and the warts are going to be visible this way on the tip of the penis and around the anus area. Well, when it comes to warts being diagnosed at men, the symptoms are not that obvious and easy to trace at first. At both men and woman, genital warts can be formed in the mouth or throat of the person who has had oral sex with an infested partner, although the cases diagnosed this way are much more rare.

Genital warts are usually associated with HPV infection and the condition is actually considered to be a symptom of HPV. Anyway, in most cases patients can feel that something is wrong and once they do so, they need to seek treatment as soon as possible. The disease can however be prevented easily. As genital warts is a sexually transmitted disease, avoiding sexual contact with an invested partner is the best way to avoid its development. Protected sex will help all individuals stay away of such a condition. In fact, statistics show that there is about 70 percent chance for an individual to be infected with genital warts if unprotected sex happens with an infected partner.

Safe sex is the first step in avoiding sexually transmitted diseases, regardless of their type, and no matter how they are formed. Genital warts make no exception. Another way to prevent the forming of genital warts is by taking the Gardasil vaccine, which is know to protect individuals from the forming of this condition. The vaccine is known to be very effective for women, but only when it is administered before coming into contact with an infected partner. This is why it is recommended for women to take the vaccine before being sexually active.
